SUMMARY:Following the Flow: Monitoring the Evolution of Circulating Tumor
 Cells and Blood Flow
DESCRIPTION:Ayman Yousef and Amanda Randles (Duke University)\n\nWe showca
se two distinct applications of computational fluid dynamics for patient h
ealth monitoring driven by the HARVEY fluid dynamics solver. The first por
tion of the animation depicts blood flow coursing through a representative
human aorta. The inlet of the flow begins at the ascending aorta, passing
through the aortic arch until it reaches the descending aorta at the bott
om of the geometry. The fluid flow diverges upon entering the aortic arch,
dividing into right and left subclavian and common arteries. Flow is cons
tantly pulsing throughout the lifetime of the animation to mimic circulati
on in vivo. The second portion of the animation portrays the movement of a
circulating tumor cell (CTC) as it progresses through a geometry. Fluid f
low streamlines guide the path of the CTC as it traverses through the grid
-like structure. Visualization of CTC deformation, primarily during intera
ctions with geometry and blood flow, provides critical insights for long-t
erm monitoring of patient health.\n\nTag: Art of HPC\n\nRecording: Not Liv
