SUMMARY:Journey Through a Vortex Jungle
DESCRIPTION:Sébastien Lemaire, Paul Bartholomew, Erich Essmann, Michèle W
eiland, Justs Zarins, and Mark Parsons (Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centr
e (EPCC))\n\nThe video shows a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulati
on of the evolution of Taylor-Green vortices over time. The Taylor-Green v
ortex test case is a common setup for benchmarking and validating CFD solv
ers. The flow is initialized with sine wave velocities. Vortices decay ove
r time, showing the different scales of turbulence. \n\nThe simulation at
the center of the visualization was performed by ASiMoV-ccs (https://githu
b.com/asimovpp/asimov-ccs), a CFD and combustion code designed for large-s
cale simulations. The simulation was run on the UK's national supercompute
 r ARCHER2 (https://www.archer2.ac.uk). The visualization sheds new light a
nd a new perspective on the ubiquitous Taylor-Green vortex test case, putt
ing the complexity of fluid flow on full display.\n\nTag: Art of HPC\n\nRe
