SUMMARY:Infinite Flow
DESCRIPTION:Sebastien Lemaire (Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC))
, Irufan Ahmed (Imperial College London), and Paul Bartholomew (Edinburgh
Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC))\n\nThe image shows a fluid dynamics visu
alization of a periodic channel flow performed by x3d2, a newly developed
high-fidelity CFD solver with CPU and GPU backends. \n\nA channel flow is
a ubiquitous test case for analyzing turbulence development and scales. Th
e flow is bounded between two infinitely large planes and all the other di
rections are periodic, meaning the flow is recirculated once it leaves the
computational domain. After an initial perturbation, all the scales of tu
rbulence develop and are visible. In this image we highlight one of the in
finitely long planes and the velocity field is displayed.\n\nTag: Art of H
