SUMMARY:An Approach for Correlating Compiler Optimizations with Runtime Pe
 rformance
DESCRIPTION:Befikir Bogale (University of Tennessee, Knoxville); Olga Pear
ce (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory); Tom Scogland (Lawrence Liverm
ore National Laboratory (LLNL)); and Michela Taufer (University of Tenness
ee, Knoxville)\n\nPerformance-portability libraries such as RAJA enable si
ngle-source applications to run on diverse architectures, but performance
often depends on compiler decisions that are hard to observe. Existing too
ls either show compiler activity without runtime context or runtime perfor
mance without compiler provenance. We present an approach that integrates
compiler optimization data into runtime profiles, allowing developers to l
ink specific optimizations to their performance impact. We demonstrate thi
s approach through a case study where we determine the compiler requiremen
ts of kernels from the RAJA Performance Suite.\n\nTag: Research & ACM SRC
