 Production Systems: From Sandia Testbeds to Performance-Portable Software

 ia National Laboratories is charting a full-stack path that takes experime
 ntal accelerator hardware from prototype testbeds into the high-performanc
 e production systems running our mission codes. In the first part of this 
 talk, I’ll survey our hardware prototyping journey—from the Advanced Archi
 tecture Testbed lineage, through the Kingfisher wafer-scale AI/HPC engine 
 and our El Dorado deployment, to the Vanguard systems Astra and Spectra (i
 n partnership with NextSilicon). In the second part, I’ll dive into two so
 ftware initiatives I co-lead, each designed to fuse these novel accelerato
 rs into production workflows with performance portability:• CommBench/HiCC
