Biography
Debsindhu Bhowmik is a computational scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in the Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate. He leads interdisciplinary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, high-performance computing (HPC), molecular simulation, and biomedical applications. His work spans AI-driven molecular engineering, targeted radiopharmaceutical therapy, agent-based modeling for cancer immunotherapy, and the use of large language models for biomolecular design and analysis.

Dr. Bhowmik has made significant contributions to the development of multiscale simulation frameworks integrating molecular dynamics and AI-based surrogate modeling. He serves as Principal Investigator on several LDRD/DOE projects focused on GenAI-based small molecule design, hybrid modeling of radionuclide-chelator interactions, and predictive modeling of therapeutic transport across asymmetric membranes.

He has published extensively in high-impact journals including PNAS, J. Chem. Inf. Model., and IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, and his research has received national media attention. Dr. Bhowmik is an advocate for explainable AI in healthcare and actively collaborates with teams across the Department of Veterans Affairs to advance clinical decision support and precision oncology using AI and digital twin frameworks.

He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry. He is a member of several professional societies and serves as a Editor and reviewer for journals in Biological Modeling, computational chemistry, and Protein bioinformatics etc.
