Biography
René Redler holds a PhD in physical oceanography with more than 30 years of experience in numerical modeling, mainly in the field of ocean and Earth system modeling. The main focus of his scientific and technical work is on the framework for coupling the different Earth system model components so they work together in a physical and computationally efficient way. He served as a topical editor for his field's leading technical journal, Geoscientific Model Development, and as editor of a six-volume compendium on software developments for Earth system models, published by Springer. He has been at the forefront of efforts at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology to bring a new generation of kilometer-scale ICON models into being.
