Philippa Rubin is a Senior Research Software Engineer at the Hartree Centre, a department within STFC. Philippa is primarily focused on encouraging the adoption of quantum computing, HPC, machine learning and AI to tackle industry challenges.
As a software engineer, Philippa is passionate about using the latest advances in emerging technology for enhanced productivity, innovation and economic growth; both through project work with industry collaborators and through delivering training.
Philippa is currently working on quantum computing projects with applications to CFD and has a strong interest in integrating quantum computing resources with classical HPC. Philippa also delivers the Hartree Centre’s quantum computing courses, as part of its ‘EXPLAIN’ training programme.
Prior to joining Hartree Centre, Philippa read Mathematics at Imperial College London, specialising in HPC and Scientific Computation. Her thesis was in non-Hermitian quantum theory.
