Biography
Dr. Dirk Colbry is faculty in the Department of Computational Mathematics, Science, and Engineering at Michigan State University. He was PI for the NSF-funded CyberAmbassadors project, and co-directs the ongoing efforts to use this curriculum to provide professional skills training to support interdisciplinary work. More than 19,000 CyberAmbassadors participant trainings have been completed to date, and more than 800 individuals have completed the full certificate program. Dr. Colbry led efforts to recruit and train almost 150 volunteer facilitators who are using the CyberAmbassadors curriculum to offer training for their own campuses, companies, and communities. Dr. Colbry’s global impact as a STEM educator was recognized by the American Society for Engineering Education, which named him to their Hall of Fame in 2023. Dr. Colbry has integrated the CyberAmbassadors materials into undergraduate and graduate coursework at Michigan State University, and offered professional skills workshops in conjunction with PEARC and SC.
