John MacAuley joined ESnet in 2013 to continue his work on the Open Grid Forum Network Services Interface standard and a production deployment of the NSI protocol. He holds an MSc in computer science from Western University, and has had an extensive career developing software products at Bell-Northern Research, Nortel, Avaya, and SURFnet.

At ESnet John managed the Software Engineering Group through ESnet6 development, and is currently Chief Software Architect, focusing his efforts on integrated research infrastructure and software for the next-generation production network at ESnet. John is a co-chair of the Integrated Research Infrastructure’s (IRI) Interfaces Technical Subcommittee and a member of the IRI Leadership Group.
