Biography
Tom Deakin is a Lecturer (equiv. Assistant Professor) in Advanced Computer Systems at the University of Bristol in the High Performance Computing Research Group, researching the theory and practice of parallel programming models and performance portability of massively parallel high-performance simulation codes. He is the Chair of the Khronos SYCL Working Group, and a member of the ISO WG21 C++ Standards Committee. Tom lectures on computer architecture and high performance computing at the University of Bristol, and has given many tutorials on parallel programming models at international conferences (OpenMP, OpenCL, SYCL), including the SC conference since 2014. Tom is co-author of the book “Programming Your GPU with OpenMP,” published in 2023 by The MIT Press.
