Aleix Torres-Camps
Biography
Aleix Torres-Camps has been working as a Machine Learning Engineer at Qualcomm Europe Inc. since February 2023, within the AI Research division. His work focuses on cutting-edge topics such as training optimization for large language models (LLMs) and enhancing the reasoning capabilities of vision-language models (VLMs).
In parallel with his professional career, Aleix is pursuing a part-time master’s degree in Advanced and Applied Mathematics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona. He previously earned a double degree in Mathematics and Data Science Engineering from the same university, where he completed his research thesis in Number Theory during an academic stay at the University of California, Santa Barbara. As a distinguished member of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (CFIS), a prestigious center of excellence at UPC, Aleix was selected among the top 40 students nationwide in the fields of mathematics, physics and engineering.
He is passionate about mathematical problem-solving, particularly in areas such as combinatorics, graph theory, optimization, algorithms, and abstract algebra. Aleix has also excelled in numerous mathematics and computer science Olympiads.
