William Tang

Biography
Prof. William Tang of Princeton University’s Department of Astrophysical Sciences is Principal Research Physicist at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, Executive Board member of the Princeton Institute for Computational Science and Engineering “PICSciE,” and Participating Faculty in the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning (CSML). He has over 200 peer-reviewed papers, including the NATURE (April, 2019) paper on “Predicting Disruptive Instabilities in Controlled Fusion Plasmas through Deep Learning,” and an associated “h-index”/“impact factor” of 60 on Google Scholar Citations with over 14,000 citations. A Fellow of the American Physical Society, his other honors include the NVIDIA 2018 Global Impact Award.
