Biography
Maria Pantoja is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She also serves as a Visiting Researcher at Argonne National Laboratory. She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University and her BA/MA in Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.
Dr. Pantoja’s research focuses on high-performance computing, machine learning, and uncertainty quantification in deep learning. She has led and contributed to multiple projects involving distributed hyperparameter optimization, adversarial robustness, and uncertainty estimation for vision transformers. Her work has been presented at leading venues, including the ACM Supercomputing Conference, CARLA, ECCV, and CVPR.
Dr. Pantoja has received recognitions such as the Lockheed Martin Endowment and the HP Ph.D. Scholarship, and she remains committed to mentoring undergraduate researchers and fostering innovation in AI and HPC.
