Masatoshi Kawai is an assistant professor in information science at Tohoku University. His research focuses on high-performance computing, numerical linear algebra, and sparse solvers. He is particularly interested in scalable parallel algorithms, dynamic load balancing, and auto-tuning techniques for modern multicore and distributed architectures. His contributions include advances in mixed-precision solvers, multigrid smoothers, and block low-rank matrix methods. Through this work, he aims to enhance the efficiency of large-scale scientific computing and to bridge the gap between algorithmic innovation and high-performance implementation.
