Miguel Castrillo is co-lead of the Computational Earth Sciences (CES) group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). With degrees in computer science, geography and history, and artificial intelligence, he has over 20 years of experience in computational engineering, 13 of them in Earth sciences at BSC. His professional experience encompasses data management, scientific workflows, visualization, and HPC optimization for climate and ocean models. He is a member of various modeling groups (NEMO, EC-Earth) and the Scientific Board of Mercator Ocean International. He has made significant contributions to several major European initiatives, including IS-ENES, ESiWACE, IMMERSE, and EERIE. He currently coordinates the Virtual Ocean Model Lab activities within the EDITO Model Lab (Digital Twin Ocean) project, leads the work package on model evaluation in MOIRAI, and has coordinated the implementation of the workflow for the Climate Adaptation Digital Twin under the Destination Earth initiative.
