Biography
Neena Imam is the Director of the O’Donnell Data Science and Research Computing Institute at Southern Methodist University (SMU), a role that is central to advancing data-focused education and next-generation computational research at the university. Before SMU, Imam served as the Director of Strategic Researcher Engagement at NVIDIA Corporation. In this role, Imam worked with academic researchers to enable GPU-accelerated and AI/ML application development. Before NVIDIA, Imam served as a distinguished scientist and the Director of Research Collaboration in the Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Her research interests include AI-focused HPC, resource-efficient AI, federated learning, as well as post-Moore computing. Imam holds a doctoral degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech, with master's and bachelor's degrees in the same field from Case Western Reserve University and Caltech, respectively. Imam also served as the Science and Technology Fellow for Senator Lamar Alexander (2010–2012).
