Philippe Navaux is a professor in the Informatics Institute at UFRGS, Porto Alegre, Brazil, since 1971. He has a degree in electronic engineering (UFRGS, 1970), a master's in applied physics (UFRGS, 1973), and a PhD in computer science (INPG, Grenoble, 1979).

Philippe is a professor of computer architecture and HPC and leader of the Parallel and Distributed Processing Group, with projects financed by Brazilian government agencies (Finep, RNP, CNPq, Capes) and international cooperation (FP7, H2020) with groups from Spain, France, Germany, and the U.S. He participates in projects with Microsoft, Intel, HP, DELL, Altus, and Itautec. He has advised nearly 100 graduate students and has published nearly 400 papers in journals and conferences. He is a member of the SBC, Brazilian Computer Society, SBPC, ACM, and IEEE and a consultant to various national and international funding organizations (U.S. DOE, French ANR, FINEP, CNPq, CAPES, FAPESP, FAPERGS, FAPEMIG, FACEPE, and others).
