Mark Munsell leads a non-profit effort to expand the geospatial technology ecosystem in St. Louis, Missouri. Previously, he held positions with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) including Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, Director of Digital Innovation, Chief Technology Officer, and Deputy Director of the Chief Information Officer and IT Services Directorate, where he managed a multibillion-dollar development budget. In all of his roles, Mark facilitates innovative development aimed at transforming and modernizing software engineering and artificial intelligence technology to better serve its mission partners, as well as overseeing and streamlining IT-related capabilities and services.

Mark is a St. Louis native who began his federal career with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), where he received the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal for his work on nautical charting software. In 1996, he transferred to the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) in St. Louis. He left DMA in 1997 and founded a software engineering company specializing in online flight and a maritime planning company called IMAPS in 2000. He returned to government service with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in 2006 and has since held several senior leadership roles, including director of the Office of Targeting and Transnational Issues, as well as numerous other senior executive positions.
