Biography
Philip W. Fackler has been a Research Software Engineer in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) since 2019. His interests include high performance computing applications and performance portability in Julia and C++, computational mesh generation and geometry, and C++ language evolution. His work has generally been related to porting existing high performance computing (HPC) codes to make use of GPUs with an emphasis on performance portability and sustainability. This has been primarily done with C++ using Kokkos and with Julia using JACC.jl, with application areas in nuclear fusion/fission, additive manufacturing, and neutron data interpretation.
