Alex Knigge is an undergraduate student at the University of New Mexico and an intern at Sandia National Laboratories. Her journey in high-performance computing (HPC) began in 2023 when she participated in the Winter Classic Invitational. Since then, she has actively coached and competed in several international competitions, worked in DevOps at the University of New Mexico's HPC center, contributed to several HPC research projects, and served as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate and graduate-level HPC course.

Her primary focus is on sustainable computing, where she explores various domains to optimize software and hardware for both environmental sustainability and performance efficiency. After completing her bachelor's degree, Alex plans to pursue a PhD, with the goal of advancing sustainability practices within the HPC field.
