Jordi Ros-Giralt
Biography
Jordi Ros-Giralt is Director of Engineering at Qualcomm Europe Inc., where he leads the Qualcomm's AI Research team in Barcelona, Spain. His team focuses on advancing state-of-the-art training techniques for large language models (LLMs) and enhancing the reasoning capabilities of vision-language models (VLMs). Beyond his work in AI, Jordi also leads the development of bottleneck structure theory, a novel mathematical framework designed to optimize communication systems with applications in artificial intelligence, chip design, and wireless communications. He has authored over 80 publications and holds over 20 patents. Jordi is the recipient of the 2017 Alan Turing Award for Social Impact from the Computer Science Association of Catalonia, for his work on the global educational initiative Labdoo.org. He received his PhD in Computer Science and MBA from the University of California (UCI and UCLA), and a BSc in Telecommunications Engineering from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya.
