Dr. Gokcen Kestor is a senior research scientist in the High Performance Artificial Intelligence (HPAI) group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). She leads activities at BSC focused on applying AI to high performance computing (HPC) challenges, including pioneering efforts in the use of AI for chip design. Her research addresses fundamental computer science challenges in HPC software, targeting scalability, energy efficiency, programmability, and portability on heterogeneous systems through advanced compiler and runtime optimizations. She has extensive expertise in programming models, power and performance modeling, emerging architectures, and AI-driven system software. Gokcen is an active contributor to the HPC research community, serving on program committees for top-tier HPC conferences and co-organizing Women in High Performance Computing (WHPC) workshops. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in computer science from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Spain.
