Dr. Esteban Hernández is Head of Scientific and Research Cooperation at CyberColombia and Executive Director of SCALAC, leading regional efforts in high performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence, and quantum computing. With a PhD in engineering focused on HPC for weather forecasting and over 20 years of experience as a senior software architect, he has specialized in performance, availability, and scalable systems design. His expertise includes parallel programming (MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, OpenCL, OpenACC), big data processing on AWS, and scientific computing architectures. Over the past four years, he has led applied research in computer vision and, more recently, teaches quantum computing, promoting its adoption in Latin America. Esteban actively fosters collaboration between academia, research, and industry, accelerating innovation and digital transformation through advanced computing infrastructure and training initiatives across the region.
