Jake Carroll is the current Director of the University of Queensland Research Computing Centre. He has a significant history in research focused ICT, having been an administrator, supporter, architect, manager and then a leader in digital research infrastructure and the local supercomputing community for around two decades. He has been responsible for the establishment and deployment of some of Australia’s most vibrant scientific computing intensive infrastructures. His focus is the enablement and empowerment of researchers by removing barriers to entry - making advanced computing capabilities a seamless extension of the lab. With his teams, Jake builds novel research data storage infrastructures, supercomputers, data fabrics and research data management capabilities to enhance the research experience. Jake has an undergraduate background in computer science, is a UQ MBA alumni and is currently a Doctoral Candidate in the University of Queensland’s School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. He serves on several industry boards such as IBM's International Storage Board Advisory Council.
