Biography
Chen-Chun Chen is a fifth-year PhD student in computer science and engineering at The Ohio State University, advised by Dr. D.K. Panda. His research focuses on designing and optimizing modern MPI libraries, particularly MVAPICH, for heterogeneous GPU-based high performance computing (HPC) and deep learning workloads. He specializes in developing advanced collective algorithms and integrating next-generation accelerators to achieve scalable, high-performance communication. His work bridges low-level hardware communication with high-level middleware, enabling performance portability across diverse HPC architectures. Prior to his PhD, Chen-Chun earned his master’s degree from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, where he worked on large-scale system architecture, runtime prediction, and job scheduling for big data systems.
