Biography
Dr. Carlos Jaime Barrios Hernández is the director of the High Performance and Scientific Computing Center (SC3UIS) at Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) in Bucaramanga, Colombia. He is an associate professor in the same university's Informatics and Systems Engineering School (EISI) and a Senior Member of ACM and the IEEE Computer Society. At the same time, Barrios Hernández is the SCALAC (Advanced Computing Systems for Latin America and Caribbean) consortium chair and co-chair of several academic conferences, workshops, and summer schools. Barrios Hernández's research interests are in advanced computing and scalable architectures, performance evaluation, scientific computing linking, and programming models. He participates in several projects with different countries in America and Europe. He studied in France (PhD in informatics and computer science, Université Nice-Sophia-Antipolis, Nice; master's degree in applied mathematics and informatics, Université Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble) and in Colombia (systems engineer, Universidad Industrial de Santander, Bucaramanga).
