María del Carmen Heras Sánchez
Biography
Dr. María del Carmen Heras Sánchez is the Head of the High-Performance Computing Area at the University of Sonora and serves as an adjunct professor. She specializes in supercomputing and bioclimatology, applying computational simulation methods to environmental and biological research, with over 20 years of experience.

She holds a PhD in science (biotechnology) from the Technological Institute of Sonora, a master’s degree in geology (geohydrology) from the University of Sonora, and a bachelor’s degree in informatics from the Technological Institute of Hermosillo.

Dr. Heras Sánchez has authored several publications on supercomputing applications in climatology, ecology, and bioclimatology. She is a co-founder of the Mexican Supercomputing Network (Red Mexicana de Supercómputo) and a Level I National Researcher (SNII), SECIHTI.
