Sayef Azad Sakin is a PhD candidate in Computing at the University of Utah. Adivsed by Dr. Kate Isaacs, his dissertation centers on event-sequence visualization, exploring design trade-offs and data management techniques for scalable, interactive visual analytics. Sayef’s research interests lie at the intersection of data visualization, high-performance computing, parallel and distributed systems, and data management. He is actively involved in the Traveler Project, developing interactive graph and trace visualizations for asynchronous multi-task execution, and improving backend performance and data handling. He also leads ESeMan, a system for summarizing and visualizing large amounts of event data with tunable accuracy. Before his PhD, Sayef received his MS and BS in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh (2016 and 2013, respectively). Advised by Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, during his MS, he worked on improving resource usage in cognitive radio networks and developed an NS-3 module for wireless regional area networks.
