Dr. Costas Bekas serves as the Head of Research Platform at Citadel Securities. He focuses on high performance computing (HPC), cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and large-scale data analytics. Prior to his current role, he was a Distinguished Researcher and Manager for the Foundations of Cognitive Computing at IBM Research in Zurich. Costas is a two-time recipient of the prestigious ACM Gordon Bell Prize (2013 and 2015) for outstanding achievement in HPC, as well as a recipient of the PRACE Award (2012). His research explores the intersection of AI, massively scalable machine learning, and new computing paradigms. He holds a PhD in computer engineering and informatics from the University of Patras, Greece.
