Biography
Frank Würthwein is the director of SDSC. He leads Distributed High-Throughput Computing at SDSC, and he is a faculty member in the UC San Diego Department of Physics, as well as a founding faculty member of the Halicioğlu Data Science Institute on campus. His research focuses on experimental particle physics, and in particular the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. He continues to serve, as he has for many years, as executive director of the Open Science Grid, the premier national cyberinfrastructure for distributed high-throughput computing. He leads the National Research Platform, an open cyberinfrastructure to enable AI infrastructure ownership for all of academia.
