Peter Thornton studies the interactions of land and atmosphere with an emphasis on coupling of energy, water, carbon, and nutrient fluxes in land ecosystems. He works with integrated teams of modelers and experimentalists to advance fundamental understanding of Earth system feedbacks operating on time scales from seconds to centuries.
