Biography
Bill Magro is Global Director and Chief Technologist for HPC at Google, leading the HPC business, including product and technology strategy, for Google Cloud.
Previously, he spent two decades at Intel as Intel Fellow and Chief Technologist for HPC, initiating and driving Intel’s HPC business, including traditional HPC, HPC on Cloud, and Exascale.
A recognized leader in the InfiniBand industry, Bill co-founded the OpenFabrics Alliance and co-chaired the InfiniBand Trade Association TWG from 2007-2020.
With over two decades as a prominent voice in the HPC community, Bill frequently presents at conferences and industry panels, often focusing on the influence of Cloud and AI on the future of scientific and technical computing.
He holds a BEng from Cornell University and a PhD in physics from the University of Illinois, having also spent three years as a postdoctoral fellow and staff member at the Cornell Theory Center.
