Biography
Bjorn Stevens' research blends modeling, theory, and field work to understand the way atmospheric water shapes climate. In addition to leading national initiatives to develop a new generation of Earth system models, he has organized and led major observational initiatives designed to test understanding of how atmospheric water, especially clouds, couple to circulation systems. Stevens served as a lead author of Chapter 7, "Cloud and Aerosols," for the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and he co-leads the WCRP Grand Science Challenge on Clouds, Circulation and Climate Sensitivity.
