Glenn K. Lockwood
Biography
Glenn K. Lockwood is a Principal Technical Strategist at VAST Data, where he works on the architecture, performance analysis, and deployment strategies for high-performance computing and AI infrastructure. He collaborates with engineering teams, customers, and the HPC and AI research community to inform product direction and share best practices for building and operating large-scale systems. His career has focused on applied research and development in extreme-scale and parallel computing systems, with specific expertise in scalable architectures, performance modeling, and emerging technologies for I/O and storage. Prior to joining VAST, Glenn served as principal engineer at Microsoft, where he supported the design and operations of the Azure supercomputers that trained many leading large language models. Earlier, at NERSC, he led the design of several large-scale storage systems, including the world’s first 30+ PB all-NVMe Lustre file system for the Perlmutter supercomputer. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Rutgers University.
