Kareem Ergawy
Biography
Kareem Ergawy is a software engineer at AMD focusing on supporting modern Fortran and OpenMP on AMD GPUs. Prior to AMD, Kareem worked at Guardsquare in Munich, a company specializing in obfuscating-compilers and protecting Mobile applications against static and dynamic reverse engineering. Also, Kareem worked at TomTom in Berlin, developing automative navigation systems. At TomTom, he was part of the guidance team which works on generating precise turn-by-turn instructions. In general, he is interested in low-level programming and gaining deeper understanding into how high-level languages are translated to the target hardware. These interests lead to joining AMD, working on compilers. He is currently working, for example, on automatically parallelizing Fortran's `do concurrent` loops both on CPUs and GPUs through mapping them to equivalent OpenMP constructs, and solving other tangent problems in both OpenMP and Fortran domains.
