DescriptionLooking for your next career challenge? We seek an expert Power Engineer/Architect to join Arm’s Packaging, Boards and Multiphysics team. You will be involved with systems that incorporate Arm processors, focusing on platform power design and distribution for System-on-Chip (SoC). We are working at the forefront of embedded compute focusing on developing hardware platform prototypes to validate and demonstrate Arm's latest IP products.
RequirementsCollaborate with engineering teams across multiple geographies to specify, evaluate, analyze, and develop solutions for PCB and silicon package integration, focusing on driving the power design and distribution for platforms supporting Arm System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions. Architect, design, simulate, and optimize high-efficiency DC-DC power solutions such as multi-phase buck converters, VRMs, and PMICs for high-performance CPU/GPU platforms.
Perform schematic design, PCB layout reviews, and component selection to meet power delivery requirements including voltage ripple, transient response, and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as architects, electrical, thermal, layout, and SI/PI engineers on platform floor-planning studies and telemetry requirements.
Conduct PDN (Power Delivery Network) simulation and analysis to ensure power integrity. Work with multiple vendors and partners to ensure feature alignment and cost-optimized solutions. Validate and debug power solutions in the lab using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and other instrumentation.
Document test reports, design specifications, and best practices for power solutions while staying current on industry trends in power electronics and energy-efficient technologies.
8+ years of experience in power distribution and design. Proficiency in DC-DC converter topologies (buck, boost, multiphase), PWM controllers, MOSFETs, and power stages, with knowledge of telemetry interfaces such as PMBus, SMBus, and AVBus. Experience using simulation tools including Simplis, SPICE, PowerDC, and Ansys SIWave. Strong knowledge of PCB layout considerations for power circuits, such as parasitic reduction. Skilled in PDN and PI analysis with familiarity in dynamic load testing and slamming techniques. Experienced with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power integrity test setups. Knowledgeable in EMI/EMC mitigation techniques for power designs and familiar with thermal management solutions for high-power-density systems. Demonstrates a problem-solving mindset and teamwork orientation.
Nice to have: Exposure to MCU-based or FPGA-based prototyping, or scripting using Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for automation. Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes for measurement and optimization.
